FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Lone Star SBDC Names RREA Small Business of the Year
Register Real Estate Advisors, also known as RREA, was awarded the Small Business of the Year by the Lone Star College Small Business Development Center at the 28th Annual Small Business Awards Banquet held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center on November 20th.
“Starting and running a small business takes incredible passion and fortitude,” said Sal Mira, Lone Star College Small Business Development Center Director. “We are honored to be able to recognize these owners for their efforts in helping our local economy remain strong and vibrant.”
Hundreds of applicants were nominated for the award and all had to be located in one of the six Lone Star College System service areas. For businesses to be eligible they had to meet certain criteria. From the hundreds of applicants, there were eighteen finalist chosen and six winners.
The President of the Lone Star College-University Park, Shah Ardalan, was unable to attend the event due to a recent surgery. Ardalan sent a message to Shannon Register saying, “On behalf of Lone Star College-University Park, I would like to congratulate you on being a finalist and winner…it is a tremendous honor to be recognized amongst your peers in the industry.”
The owners of RREA, Shannon and Matt Register, were recognized as one of the eighteen finalists for the 2014 Small Business of the Year awards at a recent luncheon held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. This is the 28th year in which the Lone Star College Small Business Development Center Advisory Council has selected and recognized successful small businesses that make an impact in the local community and on the economy.
Shannon Register said, “It is wonderful to be recognized among Houston’s finest small business owners. To be chosen for this year’s prestigious award at the finalist banquet was an honor.”
She went on to say, “Entrepreneurs have a different mindset and a different skillset than other employees. We see opportunities, organize resources, take risk, provide leadership, and create value in a product or service we believe in. Entrepreneurs have big dreams and we execute first to make money, second to scale and grow, third to leave a legacy, and then, at some point, to exit. That’s what makes all of these finalists different than executives in fortune 500 companies. We are small business entrepreneurs and we help drive the economy by supporting local legislators and giving back to our communities. We rely on local consumers to support us.”
The Lone Star College Small Business Development Center works with entrepreneurs and existing companies to help them evolve to the next level of business in today’s global economy. Small Business Development Center services are available for companies in every phase of the business life cycle, helping entrepreneurs make sound decisions and succeed.
